Hello.

First, Can I use a Korean for my question? :)

I am studying the first online video module as a beginner.
I found that in order to express "~이지만.. ~ 임에도", teacher used to use not a "Even though" but "but".

I am wondering the detailed difference between "Even though (if)" and just "but" as I used to use "even though" much more than "but".
Furthermore If it is possible, Would you let me know what are the differences among "but", "however" and other similar expressions.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards
Jisoo

Hi Jisoo,

As stated in the guidelines (can be found at the top of the Q&A page), yes you are allowed to use the Korean words if you are specifically asking about the expression!

I'm not entirely sure if I can answer your questions as expressions like "but", "although", "even though", "though", "however", etc essentially all carry the same meaning. There may be some instances one expression is more common or formal to use, but I don't think it is significant enough to be concerned about this.

I hope this makes sense!
