Dear Mason teacher,

Greetings! I am Irene hyunhye Kang who's taking the class and found your quiz comments on my score.

Regarding your comment on my first quiz, I was wondering what does it mean for the following sentence.

  • Interpret consecutively, not simultaneously.

I'd appreciate if you can explain me with example so that I can adjust to my future quizzes.

Best regards,
Irene

Hi Hyunhye,

Consecutive interpreting (순차통역) means you listen to the sentence first, pause the audio and interpret afterwards. Simultaneous interpreting (동시통역) is when the interpreter speaks at the same time as the audio is being played. I hope this is clear.
