Hello, I would like to ask you about the grammar from the script of 'Lesson2 News Broadcast' (Module 2_ K to E)

Example sentences
1. However, instead of just thinking about it, there is someone who had planned it for ten years and she is fully enjoying their life. Let’s find out what the secret to happiness is.

2. At this busy commuting time, there is someone who is relaxing getting their hair done. This is Emiko with a completed curly perm.

Could you explain why it's 'their' despite the subject is 'she'? Is it because we don't know her well so we just use 'their' to mean by 'someone's life or hair'?
It would be very appreciative to hear the concrete explanation.

Thank you.

Hi Sujung,

The pronoun "they" is commonly used to replace she/he and there really is no significant reason behind this. Here is a website that you can check out: https://www.grammar-monster.com/lessons/his_her_their_they_singular_plural.htm

I hope this is clear!
