Good evening teacher Grace,

I'd like to ask a question on the video 1 from the module 1 of <Korean to English Translation Lesson>

I'm afraid I can't understand clearly what you said in the video from 17:30 explaining the usage of 'only a few'

"why do I use it here? Because 'only' means 단지 or smaller amount so it cancels everything out"

This is your sentence that I heard and could you tell me again what it means?

Thank you :)

Hello Eunhye,

As the instructor Grace is not available, I will do my best to explain your question!

Here, Grace was explaining the difference between "a few" and "few" prior to the sentence you are referring to (From 16:50)

As the original sentence was saying "소수의 지원자들만...", she is explaining why she used "a few", not "few" and that is because she has added "only" which means 단지/고작 so saying "Only a few ..." really means there is very little.

I hope this is making sense!

Best regards,

Mason U, CMI-Korean
