Hello I have some questions about Module 1-1 K to E sentences.

1. no.8
I want to check that I understand the meaning of the explanation correctly. I understand “Most of + N” means the specific category inside one big category.
1-1. As the teacher explained at the video no.2, the meaning of ‘Most of the Canadians’ is the Canadians who wear a black sweater and who live in Toronto, is it right?
1-2. If I want to use “Most + N” to express the same meaning of above one, then…
’Most Canadians who live in Toronto wear a black sweater.’
Is it right?

2. no.9
‘A half century‘ is grammatically correct as well?

Thank you:)

Hi Seoha,

-> Saying “Most of the Canadians” is to specify a subgroup of [general] Canadians. So in the example that instructor Grace gave, yes that is what it means.

1-2. If I want to use “Most + N” to express the same meaning of above one, then…
’Most Canadians who live in Toronto wear a black sweater.’
Is it right?

-> Yes, this essentially carries the same meaning.

2. no.9
‘A half century‘ is grammatically correct as well?

-> Yes, “A half century” is the same thing as “Half a century”.

I hope it helps!
