The order of each module should be the following:

1. Submit E to K Homework (Written assignment)
2. Watch E to K Lecture videos
3. Take Quiz E to K (Recording)
4. Watch K to E Lecture videos
5. Take Quiz K to E (Recording)
6. Submit K to E Homework (Recording)


Having said that, you will take each quiz after watching the lecture videos for each section (E-K and K-E). Once you click on the start quiz button, you will see an audio file for you to listen, containing the instruction and typically 4~5 questions. The quiz materials are related to, but not limited to, the lecture materials. Please make sure you submit an MP3 file without the original audio file.

Thank you so much for your kind reply. Everything is clear now. But I have one more question.
As in Module 1-3: Sight Interpretation (Commercial), should I type the interpretation in Korean or just practice with eyes?
If I just practice with my eyes only, how can we say that the assignment is completely done and what should I do?
If it's ok to practice alone, what is the difference between translation and interpretation in the condition that we see a same content in different format?

Well, I think that translation gives me some time to find out the best meaning and I still can modify it to make it the most profitable. In Interpretation, I feel like speed is necessary. I can't find any words, expressions or textual meaning by searching. In Interpretation, in this sense, do we need to read a wide range of texts to understand what's going one in the world? We can't look for anything while we interpret differently from translation.

Sorry for a long and a bit heavy question at the beginning of interpretation course. Anyway, thanks for your opinion in advance!

-> For the sight interpretation, you DO NOT need to type anything. You should practice interpreting it on your own; however, you do not submit anything for this.

-> Before I answer any of your questions, let’s get one thing straight. Translation is 번역 which involves reading and writing. Interpretation is 통역 which involves listening and speaking. That is literally the only difference between translation and interpretation.

One misconception that you just brought up is that we do not have time to look up or search things while interpreting. That is just not true. As an interpreter, you still have all of your resources handy and ready to be used at all times. The idea is that you want to do it quickly so that your interpretation is provided in a timely manner.

At this stage, we do not expect our students to be able to perform real-time interpretation as that will only cause massive chaos for everyone. Instead, I would like you to take your time, and try interpreting as you are translating. Many students think “that’s not real interpreting” but I can guarantee the interpreting process is essentially the same and that’s where it actually all stems from
