I had a question regarding a comment said by the teacher in this lesson about how it wouldn't be professional for businesses to language like "seems like" and instead should sound more confident.
My question would be - is that the responsibility of the translator to make that call?
If the Korean passage specifically said "것 처럼 보인다", is it up to the translator then decide that this language is not suitable for the business and omit that phrase?

I think the point the instructor made is better suited to formal writing in the business settings rather than translating/interpreting as you pointed out.
Indeed if the Korean passage specifically said "~처럼 보인다", I would say it is correct to translate that into "it seems like ~." However, understanding the formality/characteristics of the text we translate, you could also use different wordings to make it a more business appropriate tone by saying: “it appears”, “it is evident”, etc.
