Hi, Allen.
First of all, thank you for all of your effort. Your lecture has been so helpful.
By the way, at the quiz, No.5 in Module #4  of TESOL.
" Students fill in a chart, graph, or table while doing a reading activity." is it Ture? I understood that this is a post-reading activy which is students need to do after reading not while they are reading. haven't I misunderstood?
And No.8 Can't we make any form of practice more meaningful by adding “how?”. Why not?
Let me give an example. Here is a simple question " Can you swim?' whether the answer is "Yes, I can." nor " No, I can't" I think we can ask "Why?' can students can think more by this "why". That's why I can't understand the answer is False.

wait for your reply.
Thank you.

Hi Jinhwa,

Sorry about taking so long to respond to you, I've unfortunately been quite busy recently.

Anyhow, let's take a look at your questions.  In regards to your first question about module 4, question #5, unfortunately the answer is true. While having students fill in a chart/table/graph afterwards is something that we can do, logically speaking, we could also get students to fill in a chart/graph/table while reading as well, so the answer is true.

In regards to your other question about #8, I'm a bit confused.  Did you answer "false"?  The reason why I ask is because the answer is "false".  So, question 8 on the module 4 quiz was, "[y]ou can make any form of practice more meaningful by adding “how?”".  You make a really good point, and in some circumstances, adding "how" would work to make something more meaningful.  However, it would not always work, it depends on the answer.  For example, if we ask a student, "do you like ice cream?" and a students responds by saying, "yes I do", and then we ask "how?", it does not really make any sense.  If we asked them "why?" it does.  Honestly, it depends on the structure that is being practiced.  In some cases "how" would work, but in more cases "why" would work.  However, it should be noted that asking "why" does not always work as well.

Anyhow, honestly this question should be changed.  I usually don't think about the t/f and MC questions because I only mark the written questions, but I don't like this question.  I will award you with an extra mark on your final assignment.  Please remind me (please write a note at the bottom of your final assignment) and I will give you an extra mark.

Anyhow, I hope that makes sense.  If not, please respond, and I will get back to you as soon as I can!

Have a good day!
