Hi  Hye Kyung Lee,

This question is quite tricky.  Let's take another look at it:  "2. Visual aids are very useful for all of the following except".  The key word here is "very".  Basically, you are right, of course visual aids can be used when students do a role play activity.  However, they are not essential.  When it comes to explaining instructions, structures, and vocabulary, visual aids can be very useful of course, and that is why the answer is role play activities. 

Basically, they are useful, but not "very" useful.  The question is tricky because of the way that it is worded.
