Q3. Which of the following activities is best suited specifically for pair work (which activity is not that well suited for individual work or group work?):

I am kinda confused this question.

First, I think discussion and pattern practice should be the best for pair works. How can we say which one is way better than the other?

Second, I actually did not get this sentence. How come you mentioned individual or group together? "which activity is not that well suited for individual work or group work?"

Good question. Basic this question is testing your logic. The correct answer is D (pattern practice activities). The reason why is because pattern practice activities involve a question and an answer. In pairs, students ask a question, and the other person answers. This is perfect for 2 people, and thus it is best suited for pairs. Pattern practice can be done in groups, but it is not ideal since if you have 3 people doing it, one will be left out. Also, it is not suitable for individuals, because asking and then answering their own question makes no sense.

Discussion activities are not best suited for pairs; they're best for groups because multiple people discussing a topic is more interesting than just 2, or just an individual, which would not make sense. Reading and writing activities can be done in pairs, but that is not usually the best option. That is why pattern practice is the correct answer.
