1. Having students raise their hands in order to volunteer an answer is an excellent way to encourage all of our students to share their knowledge.
-> Why this is wrong answer? When you explained it , you also mentioned that B & D both excellent method and most of north america also using it.

2. Drawing two lines on the board to help explain the structure "not as ... as ... " is a good way to explain the meaning of the structure and a good way to keep everyone's attention.
-> Why this is wrong? Drawing two lines is effective to draw students attention isnt it?

3. When creating aims we should only focus on what students will do and learn.
-> As you said, we only need to think about today's topic. I think topic is related to do and learn.

Thanks,

Hi Eun Sung Choi,

Well, let's take a look at your questions:

1.)  Having students to raise their arms to volunteer an answer is a good questioning strategy.  However, it is not a good way to involve all of our students and get them to share their knowledge.  The reason why is because it leads good/strong students to speak up a lot, but weaker, shy, and lazy students will not participate as much.  This does not mean it is a bad strategy, because all strategies have pros and cons.

2.)  No, it is not a good way to keep student's attention because it is boring.  It works, but because it is boring, it would be better to do something else, like draw pictures of people, which would be more eye-catching.

3.)  True, but we should not only think about what students will do and learn, but also why they will learn that.

Well, I hope that helps and have a nice day!
