Hi Nimna Kim,

Don't worry so much, many people struggle to understand what "prompts" mean.

Now, of course, Google is correct; however, in TESOL when we are talking about prompts, we are talking about things like "picture prompts" or "single word prompts".  With both of these practice exercises, we are giving students one thing and then having them expand on them.  Essentially it is like we are giving them something, and then having them use that to make something larger (basically to expand on it).  Also, you're right, these exercises are meant to really help students to memorize and practice using new vocab and structures.

Does that make sense?  If not, please post again and have a nice day!
