This course is really great and interesting. Thank you always!
Actually, I have a question. I can't understand detail meaning a word.
In module 2 (Using the blackboard), I don't know about 'prompts'.
What is the mean of 'prompts'? Is that a activity or a material or explaining ?
Please teach again to me what 'prompts' means concretly.

Hi Min Kyeong Oh,
I completely understand why you, and many others, are confused about the meaning of 'prompt'. Now of course, there is the proper meaning, which you can find in a dictionary or on google, and then there is the meaning we are using in the TESOL class.
The proper meaning of the word 'prompt', as a verb is: (of an event or fact) cause or bring about (an action or feeling), which basically means to push someone to take some kind of action. In class, a 'prompt' is something that we say, or an item that we show, to our students which pushes them to say something back. For example, we have picture prompts. We show students a picture, and then they must make a sentence. So, we are showing them an item, and this is pushing them to make a sentence. Or, we have 'single word prompts', and this is when we give students a single word, we say something, and then they make a full-sentence answer. In both cases, we are providing something (by either saying something or showing something), and this is pushing them to say something back.
Well, I hope that makes sense and have a nice day!
