I'm glad to have Tesol class. I started my class today and I finished lesson 1.
I have some questions about lesson 1.
First, it's about characteristics of good teaching.
You mentioned 5 things, and I don't understand the 5th thing.
5th thing is 'drinks excessively the night before class'
I thought it's a joke but you wrote it on the whiteboard. So I want to Know why it could be a good characteristic.
Second it's about the usage of an article.
In 'Categories for observation', the subtitle says 'You Should have a passion for teaching'.
I wonder 'a' can be used before uncountable nouns like 'passion'.
And like same reason above, in 'classroom climate', the subtitle says
'You should try your best to encourage a positive classroom climate.
Is it possible to use article 'a' in front of uncountable nouns like climate?
I like this online class has this kind of question board.
If you answer my questions, it can be helpful for my studying.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Ahran Kim,
Good questions! Let's take a look:
Question 1: This was just a joke! Of course, drinking excessively the night before a class is not a good thing!
Question 2 & 3: In both cases, yes. Passion can actually be both countable and uncountable! Here is a good explanation from Google: "The noun passion can be countable or uncountable. In more general, commonly used, contexts, the plural form will also be passion. However, in more specific contexts, the plural form can also be passions e.g. in reference to various types of passions or a collection of passions". Now in regards to your question about whether "a positive class climate" is correct; it is!
Anyhow, I hope this has answered your question and have a nice day!
