Hi Marrie Cris Densing,

So of course the answer to this question is 'true'.  Anyhow, the question was, "Providing students with a translation of a word is better than asking students to translate a word for us".  In general, asking students to translate a word for you is a great way to check for understanding.  On the other hand, translating for students will help them to understand the word, but not help them to use the word in context.  It is done quickly and is often not memorable.  For these reasons, asking students to translate a word is considered superior to simply providing a translation.

Anyhow, I hope that helps and have a nice day!
