Hi~ I'm watching your lecture well. By the way, I just wonder why you use 'transition' in case you need to use 'transit'.
As far as I know, 'transition' is a noun. So I think you should say " How can we help our students transit (not transition) from "controlled" writing activities to "freer" writing activities?" What do you think? Thanks for the reply in advance.

Hi JeongHui Kim,

Good question.  Although a bit uncommon, transition can be used as an intransitive verb.  It means "undergo or cause to undergo a process or period of transition".  In that sentence, "how can we help our students transition from ....?" you could also kind of imagine that "make" is included, as in "how can we help our students make the transition from....?".  This sentence is often used when talking about changing something that is abstract, such as, "the transition from childhood to adulthood is difficult", "how can we help poor people transition from poverty to a middle-class income?", etc.

Anyhow, hope that makes sense, and have a wonderful day!
