Hi Allan,
Thank you for your great lectures. I'm so happy to have you as my teacher for online TESOL course.
I just finished quiz for module 2 and have a question about number 1. The question was about basic blackboard rules.
When it comes to the basic blackboard rules, I learned from the video as below.
1. Write in a straight line, clearly, and large enough for everyone to see.
2. Maintain good posture.
3. Stand to the side
4. Speak while writing
5. Use different colors
I picked 'Maintaining eye contact with students' as my answer to the question.(The question was finding one answer which doesn't belong to basic blackboard rules.)
Is 'maintaining eye contact with students' basic blackboard rule? I would appreciate if you explain about it.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Hyelee Kim

Hi HyeLee Kim,
While "maintaining eye contact" with your students was not specifically pointed out as a rule by itself, it is connected to "stand to the side of the board" so that you do not block the board and so that you can keep an eye on our students. The correct answer is D, because you can emphasize important information in a number of ways, not just by using stars.
Does that make sense? I hope it does and happy new year!
