Hello,

This is Jueun Kim.

Hope you are having a great day or night.

I have several questions. so let me just put them all in one post!

1. When we look at number 11 in Module 2-1 , Grace translated Korean into English like this : B company WILL CLOSE...... but can I translate it like this : B company will BE CLOSED.....? Because I thought that company can not close by itself...!

2. This is number 14 in Module 2-1. In Korean, there is "그저 본받아야 하는사람". But Grace just translated it into "Role Model". So my question is,I can just translate all the words..? I can translate it into "Role Model" instead of " the person who should be respected"?

3. This is number 17 in Module 2-1. Can I translate "끝날 것이다" into "will be finished" instead of "will be completed"?

4. This is number 2 in Module 2-2. When can I use "a" , "the" in sentences? like.. How can I know all of them? They are very confusing! Will you deduct the score when I don't use a or an or the in sentences?? Will it be strict??

Thank you so much,

Jueun Kim

Hello Jueun!

Thanks for spending your time to ask questions! Let’s see if I can help.

1. When we look at number 11 in Module 2-1 , Grace translated Korean into English like this : B company WILL CLOSE...... but can I translate it like this : B company will BE CLOSED.....? Because I thought that company can not close by itself...!

I believe a company can close “by itself” but “B company will be closed” sounds just fine as well.

2. This is number 14 in Module 2-1. In Korean, there is "그저 본받아야 하는사람". But Grace just translated it into "Role Model". So my question is,I can just translate all the words..? I can translate it into "Role Model" instead of " the person who should be respected"?

-> I definitely would not say your translation is wrong, but the meaning is slightly altered in my opinion. Try looking up the definition of “본받다” and see if “should be respected” reflects the meaning!

3. This is number 17 in Module 2-1. Can I translate "끝날 것이다" into "will be finished" instead of "will be completed"?

-> Yes, you can!

4. This is number 2 in Module 2-2. When can I use "a" , "the" in sentences? like.. How can I know all of them? They are very confusing! Will you deduct the score when I don't use a or an or the in sentences?? Will it be strict??

-> How to properly use an article in a sentence is a tricky one as I (Mason) mentioned this repeatedly throughout the lecture videos. I strongly suggest you study the grammar aspect of the usage of articles first! Although you will get some marks deducted on your exam, it will not be a significant amount and you will not be penalized for it on your homework.

I hope these answers help, Jueun! Keep up the great work!
